Good ad that "Are you a north cider or a south sider?" Now when it comes to benches does the same thing apply. Passing down to the Abbey School of music today I spied some prety pretty benches. Laid out in Mountjoy square they is. I know "the rough North Side". But it twasn't always that you know....I don't think it was rough when the second Luke Gardiner laiid it out in 1792 to 1818, shame his original plan for the domed pavilions never came to its glory. Still at least the benches are still in situ, with a nice railing behind and a somewhat busy road down to Busarus. Lucky them that DCC is not like Ennis Town council....indeed , The visionary decision by Ennis town Council of passing a by-law banning skateboarding , cycling and rollerblading goes a long way to help in the campaign against childhood exercise. A far too high proportion of the youth poulation of the town are involved in sport and exercise and something needs to be done about it. Some of these kids aren't even fat never mind obese and others have failed to apply themselves to the time honoured traditions of smoking ,drinking and petty crime.Congratulations Ennis town councillors , those €1200 fines will soon have the kids back indoors watching telly and raiding the drinks cabinet.......ah well this back to the grindstone for me now..kids these days have it too easy....tilden den
